The upcoming season sees comedy legend Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and her former writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) navigating new challenges as they attempt to launch a late-night talk show, one that could make history if they pull it off.

Smart has won six Primetime Emmy Awards in her career, including winning three times back to back for her performance in Hacks (2021, 2022, 2024).
Einbinder recently won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Ava.

Names like David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, John Oliver, James Corden, Trevor Noah have shaped the genre for decades.
Hacks Season 4’s plot of having Deborah host a US talk show highlights the absence of women in this space, and will make for an interesting watch with the same wit and humour we know and love from the series.
The series itself is universally praised.
The show has the rare distinction of having a 99 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, plus a legion of adoring fans. Many refer to the show as a masterpiece in comedic storytelling and refer to it as “perfect”.
