The prognosis is good – a Scrubs reboot is on its way!
The return of the iconic hospital sitcom has been confirmed by American network ABC ordering the series for its 2025-2026 season, Variety reported.

The medical sitcom originally ran from 2001 to 2010, and even 15 years after the finale people around the globe still flock to re-watch every episode – and you can do exactly that on Stan.
Now, more Scrubs is coming, with stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke all confirmed to be returning in their original roles of JD, Turk and Elliot. All three will also executive produce alongside Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence.
Further cast returns, including Judy Reyes as Turk’s wife Carla, are not yet confirmed.
“Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together,” Lawrence said of the announcement.

The new series will return to Sacred Heart Hospital, where JD (Braff) & Turk (Faison) scrub in together for the first time in a long time.
The series’ official logline states “medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”

Lawrence first teased a reboot was on the way a year ago, telling The Independent “we’ve been talking about it”.
“We’ve really started to entertain the idea about getting the band back together because we all feel like we do have some stories to tell,” he teased.

The new series was first reported to be in early development in December 2024, while Braff’s return was confirmed in May.
In 2020, Braff and Faison – who played the iconic duo JD and Turk – launched a podcast called Fake Doctors Real Friends, where they re-watch every episode and give a full recap.
Five years on, they’ve now got new ones to film!
