Every woman dreams of their proposal – the man, the location and of course the ring.
But most people would assume the ring their fiancé is proposing with wasn’t purchased with his ex-partner. Right?
Well, that wasn’t the case with Matt and Kenzie.
Matt had been planning his proposal to girlfriend Kenzie for a long time now, but there was one part he needed some help with the ring, so he called on his best mate.
It all sounds above board, but Matt was in a very unusual situation… as his best friend Chelsea was also his ex-girlfriend who had been living with him and Kenzie for the past month.

In Season 2 of You, Me & My Ex – which you can stream for free now on 9Now – Matt shocks a very apprehensive Chelsea by telling her they are going to a jeweller.
“Think about it as the rent you have to pay to live with us,” he jokes.

“The price I have to pay is going to look at diamonds with you?” Chelsie replies, to a big ol’ “yes” from her ex.
At the jewellery store, Chelsea makes her opinion known. Not about the ring, but about Matt’s plan to propose to Kenzie in the first place.

“You need a lobotomy before you even consider this,” she said. “I don’t think you should be getting married in the first place,” she told him.
The store owner was more shocked than anyone.
“I’ve had people shop for engagement rings for exes, be it ex-girlfriend, ex-wife, people getting re-married. I’ve never had anyone have their ex-girlfriend help them pick out a ring. That was the first for me!” he reacted.

While Matt leaned towards a classic cut diamond, Chelsea worried about what his impending engagement would mean for her.
“If Matt proposes to Kenzie then I’m not going to get the same friend that I’ve had all along, because his priorities are going to have to change,” she said.
“It’s almost like I’m missing the other half of me because my best friend won’t be here.”
