‘Megalopolis’ Road Tour Launching With Francis Ford Coppola Q&A

Francis Ford Coppola‘s epic Megalopolis will be touring six cities this summer accompanied by the five-time Oscar winning filmmaker who’ll be holding the discussion “How to Change Our Future.”

“This is the way Megalopolis was meant to be seen, in a large venue, with a crowd and followed by intense interactive discussions about the future,” shared Coppola. The event is billed as a “special tour which offers fans a rare opportunity to experience the film — not currently available on any streaming platform—exactly as Coppola intended.”

The Live Nation event kicks off July 20 at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, NJ. Other tour dates are listed below.

Megalopolis was a huge passion project of Coppola’s. He self-financed the 2 hours 18 minutes Roman epic fable for $120M. The pic, set in an imagined modern America, where the city of New Rome must change, sees conflict between Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver), a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito), who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves. The movie also stars Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Aubrey Plaza, Kathryn Hunter, Laurence Fishburne and Chloe Fineman.

Megalopolis made its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last year and received a seven-minute standing ovation.
