Production is in full swing on 20th Century Studios’ long-awaited The Devil Wears Prada 2 with the core four of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci officially announced by Disney, but there’s a plus one: Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh who’ll play the husband to Streep ice queen fashion magazine editor, Miranda Priestly. You’ll remember from the first movie Priestly confesses that all is not well in the state of Denmark with her better half; it’s hard to be her.
Great timing here for 20th Century Studios in regards to the ultimate release of this movie as the fashion industry is now in an era where Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour just stepped down after 37 years (it’s been rumored that the original author of The New York Times Bestseller, Lauren Weisberger, was inspired by Wintour, whom she was the personal assistant to). In addition, romantic comedies are finding a way (Anyone But You) in this post pandemic box office, and the original 2006 movie was a big destination for female moviegoers grossing close to $125 million U.S./Canada and over $326 million worldwide.
Here’s a little teaser that dropped this AM on 20th Century Studios’ Instagram:
