Jamie Flanagan Sets Publishing Deal With Simon & Schuster’s Saga Press

Exclusive: Screenwriter Jamie Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher) has sold their first two novels to Joe Monti at Saga Press, in an exclusive submission, for World translation rights via Lane Heymont at the Tobias Literary Agency. Saga Press is an imprint of Simon & Schuster known for expertise in the horror genre.

Flanagan’s debut novel, tentatively titled Deserters and set in post-World War II Italy, follows two priests as they traverse the countryside in search of lost souls, only to find their mission descend into horror.

Their untitled second novel, about a young woman uncontrollably flitting through time, is based on their short story, Moira, which was previously released by Shortwave Publishing in their charitable anthology, Shadows in the Stacks.

“I fell in love with Flanagan’s prose, and perhaps no surprise, the immediate connection I felt with their characters”, said Monti, VP, Editorial Director at Saga Press. “I’m excited to share what they’re crafting with readers and having them join the stable of award-winning writers like Stephen Graham Jones and Tananarive Due on my list.”

Jamie Flanagan is a Bram Stoker Award–winning author, actor, and screenwriter. Their short fiction has been published by Crooked Lane Books, Shortwave Publishing, and others.

Screenwriting credits include Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher, AMC Shudder’s Creepshow, Peacock’s Hysteria!, and Amazon’s upcoming series adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie.

Flanagan is represented for film and television by WME and Circle of Confusion, for literary works by Tobias Literary Agency, and by entertainment law firm VanderKloot Law.
