Two years ago, José, 37, noticed a small bump growing on his head.
A doctor told him it was a cyst that would not grow, but two years on, it had ballooned to the size of a baseball and was negatively impacting his life.

“All of a sudden it was getting bigger and bigger and bigger. I was thinking, ‘woah what is going on with me?’ I was like, ‘damn, just put some eyes on it and [I’m] gonna have two heads,'” he chuckled.
Despite his sense of humour, the cyst had impacted José’s confidence so much that he would not leave the house without a hat to cover as much of it as he could.
“I barely go out because the people are going to be staring at me, they’re going to be like ‘oh no, what’s up with that guy?'”
With the cyst trending down his face, José worried about it getting closer to his eye and impacting his vision.
In an episode of Dr. Pimple Popper, he sought the help of dermatologist Sandra Lee to remove the cyst.
“If Dr. Lee would take this ball away from me, my whole life is gonna change. It’s going to be a different life,” he shared.
But before she could help, Dr. Lee required José to get a CT scan as a precaution.
She noticed that while most of the cyst was soft, there was a harder lump underneath that she needed to be cautious of.
José was understandably worried about what this could mean, but thankfully the scan showed the lump was not having an impact on his skull or muscles.
“It looks like this is just a lipoma so that’s all good news – that means that we can remove this today,” Dr. Lee confirmed.

José was very relieved and already had big plans for his future self.
“I feel excited, I’m ready to have haircuts,” he said with a smile.
Speaking of José’s hair, Dr. Lee said the biggest challenge for this removal was going to be maintaining a natural hairline after cutting out the cyst.

But once the removal began, the entire surgery ended up being much more laborious than she expected.
“I love you, but your lipoma sucked,” she joked to her patient afterwards.
Even so, José was thrilled to be walking out of her office “feeling like a different person”.
