Ronen, 49, has been living with a melon-sized lump on his knee since he was 12 years old, but in the past year it has worryingly grown to twice the size.

As Ronen sought the help of dermatologist Sandra Lee, aka Dr. Pimple Popper, she was left shocked and even branded Ronen’s growth as “the world’s largest cyst”.

“I really don’t know how it started it just came up when I was 12 years old and it slowly slowly grew,” Ronen explained.

“But in the last 12 months the size has changed drastically, it’s almost double the size it was about a year ago.”

The lump means that, for Ronen, even basic tasks like putting his pants on each day leaves him in “excruciating pain”.

His work as an airline crewman is extremely difficult as he is constantly trying to avoid banging his knee as he walks through the very narrow airplane aisles.

Ronen explained that if he hits the lump hard enough he “could literally see stars for 45 minutes”.

The New Yorker was reluctant to seek the advice of Dr. Lee and admitted he “didn’t trust doctors” after a string of previous doctors told him the lump was likely “not a big deal”.

When Ronen flew across the country to California to see Dr. Lee her opinion couldn’t be more different from what Ronen had heard in the past.

She was taken aback by the massive size and unusual placement of Ronen’s bump.

At first Dr. Lee was unsure if Ronen’s bump was a lipoma or a ganglion cyst.

To diagnose the lump, Dr. Lee punctured it with a syringe to see what kind of liquid drained out.

Eventually Dr. Lee confirmed that it was a cyst, not just any cyst though Dr. Lee went as far as to call it “the world’s biggest cyst”.

”This is the biggest cyst that I’ve ever seen. This is the standing world record of Dr Pimple Popper’s biggest cyst ever,” she said.
