First-time Tony Award nominee Darren Criss and Tony and Tony Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry will host The Tony Awards: Act One, the live pre-show on Pluto TV June 8.
The pre-show will be available to stream for free at 6:40 p.m.-8 .m. ET/3:40 p.m. – 5 p.m. PT. The 78th Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Cynthia Erivo from Radio City Music Hall, will immediately follow, broadcast live to both coasts on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.
Criss received his first Tony Award nomination this year for his performance as Oliver in the Broadway musical Maybe Happy Ending. Goldsberry won a Tony Award for originating the role of Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton. Her debut album Who I Really Am comes out this June. The duo will present the first round of Tony Awards during the pre-show.
Viewers can access Act One on their smart TVs, streaming devices, mobile app or online by going to Pluto TV and clicking on the “Live Music” channel, found within the Entertainment category on the service.
The Tony Awards are produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, and White Cherry Entertainment. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss are executive producers and showrunners for White Cherry Entertainment. Weiss will serve as director. The show has been broadcast on CBS since 1978.
