EXCLUSIVE: Cinetic Media, the preeminent talent management and media advisory company founded by John Sloss, has made three additions to its team, hiring David Karp as a senior manager, Andrea Wax as a manager, and Noah Stahl as a producer.
The trio joins Cinetic at a critical juncture in the growth of the company’s talent management practice, which already reps an award-winning group of writer and director multi-hyphenates, producers, and emerging talent. Going forward, they intend to aggressively pursue growth objectives, with additional manager hires to be announced in the coming months.
“David, Andrea and Noah bring a breadth of experience and talent to Cinetic at a critical moment in the company’s growth,” said Cinetic CEO Sloss. “There is a lot of chatter about how our industry is contracting, but, contrary to that sentiment, we at Cinetic look at the global marketplace and see nothing but storytelling opportunity.”
Karp was most recently a manager at Entertainment 360, prior to that serving as an MP Lit Partner at WME. He will be based out of Cinetic’s Los Angeles offices and will be charged with helping to expand the company’s scale as the preeminent representation practice for multi-hyphenate creators working across all forms of entertainment, with a focus on literary and director talent.
Wax also joins from 360, where she used her background in the Latin American market to transition into talent management. At Cinetic, she will be focused on strategically building a roster of writers, directors, and storytellers with an emphasis on elevating emerging voices and distinctive perspectives, and Latin American talent, in particular. She will also be based in the Los Angeles office.
Stahl joins the company’s New York office as an esteemed veteran of NY’s world-class independent production community, where he will work with his robust rolodex of storytellers and Cinetic’s Finance Group to bring their projects to fruition. Prior to joining Cinetic, he was Vice President of Development and Production at Jake Gyllenhaal’s company Nine Stories and a co-founder of Department of Motion Pictures.
Cinetic is coming off a busy awards season supporting client films such as Aaron Schimberg’s A Different Man and Matthew Rankin’s Universal Language, as well as current award bellwethers including Kevin MacDonald’s One to One: John & Yoko which was just released by Magnolia and theatrically in IMAX. Upcoming client work includes Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon and Nouvelle Vague, Petra Costa’s Apocalypse in the Tropics, and the James Pedersen-penned The Gallerist.
Notable clients of Cinetic Media, apart from the aforementioned, include David Gordon Green, Todd Haynes, Louis C.K., Chris Smith, Vanessa McDonnell, Amalia Ulman, Babak Jalali, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler’s Killer Films, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato’s World of Wonder, Lana Wilson, Betsy West & Julie Cohen, Matthew Heineman, and Peter Nicks.
