Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Grievous Bodily Harm

Chris Brown entered a not guilty plea in his grievous bodily harm case this morning at a court in London.

The 36-year-old is accused of an unprovoked attack on producer Abe Diaw at London’s Tape Nightclub in February 2023. Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls said the incident involved an “unprovoked attack,” during which the alleged victim was struck with a bottle, punched, and kicked.

The 36-year-old singer was arrested at 2 AM at the Lowry Hotel in Greater Manchester in May and appeared in Manchester Magistrates’ Court soon after. He was denied bail and was remanded in custody until June 13. He was released after agreeing to pay a £5m security fee to the court.

Under the bail agreement, the singer must stay at an address in the UK while awaiting trial, and was ordered to surrender his passport to police.

However, his legal reps struck a deal with the court, which allowed the singer to continue his Breezy Bowl world tour. The tour has continued as planned with the first date taking place in Amsterdam on June 8. The UK leg kicked off last weekend. He will play the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on June 21 and 22.

Brown’s co-defendant Omolulu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old American who performs under the name HoodyBaby, also entered a not guilty plea this morning to the charge of grievous bodily harm, the BBC reported.
