Kat Wood’s Action Thriller ‘Pete’ Acquired by Leonine Studios

EXCLUSIVE: German-based Leonine Studios has picked up the action thriller Pete from Kat Wood, we understand.

The plot is being kept secret, but we it’s a fresh take on a home invasion feature. North American Head of Film for Leonine, Esther Hornstein is overseeing the project. Hornstein is producing alongside Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann. Wood, who is repped by Verve, Northstar Entertainment and attorney Mitch Smelkinson, will serve as EP.

Pete is Wood’s seventh original feature project, previously selling her sci-fi script Envoy and sci-fi pitch Genus to Amy Pascal, and her action pitch Diplomatic Courier to Skydance. She sold her assassin screenplay Ruby to Amazon Studios, which 87 North will produce, and Amazon bought her original getaway driver pitch Fuel starring Jurnee Smollett shortly after.

Wood’s supernatural spy thriller screenplay Enigma was optioned by Hornstein in her previous role as SVP at Thunder Road. Wood is also a director, set to make her debut with the feature Myra, produced by Maven Pictures, and the horror movie Wakey, produced by Dominic Buchanan. Both projects she also wrote. The LA-based Brit was previously named one of the UK’s rising stars and is a former BBC broadcast journalist.
