The 2025 Tony Awards are set to kick off Sunday, June 8 at Radio City Music Hall, with Wicked star Cynthia Erivo hosting. The ceremony honoring the best in Broadway will air live on CBS and Paramount+ with Showtime, with Pluto TV streaming the preshow live and Playbill streaming the red carpet.

The 78th edition of the Tonys begins when the red carpet arrivals start flowing at Radio City Music Hall. Playbill is streaming the red carpet live on its YouTube channel, with coverage beginning at 1 p.m. PT/4 p.m. ET. You can also watch it here.
The Tony Awards: Act One
The official live Tony Awards preshow, hosted by nominees Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry, gets underway at 3:40 p.m. PT/6:40 p.m. ET and is streaming for free on Pluto TV. To access Tony Awards: Act One by clicking on Pluto TV’s “Live Music” channel in the Entertainment category.
The Tony Awards Ceremony
The three-hour Tonys ceremony, presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, will kick off at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET live on CBS and on Paramount+ only for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will not be able to stream it live; the next day, those subs in the U.S. will be able to access the show on-demand.
Who is nominated for this year’s Tony Awards?
A trio of musicals — Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her and Maybe Happy Ending – lead this year’s Tony Awards nominations field with 10 apiece including in the marquee Best Musical category, where they are joined by Dead Outlaw and Operation Mincemeat.
Other top nominees included Dead Outlaw, the Sadie Sink-starring John Proctor is the Villain, Nicole Scherzinger’s Sunset Blvd. and The Hills of California directed by Sam Mendes. All have seven noms coming into the night.
They were part of a slew of Hollywood names in the mix Sunday, with George Clooney, Sarah Snook, Daniel Dae Kim, Bob Odenkirk and Jessica Hecht among those nominated for Broadway plays and musicals taking place during the 2024-2025 season.
This year’s Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will be presented to Great Performances, Michael Price, New 42, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. The Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award will be presented to Celia Keenan-Bolger. Special Tony Awards will go to Harvey Fierstein for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, the musicians who make up the band of Buena Vista Social Club, and the Illusions & Technical Effects of Stranger Things: The First Shadow.
What performances are planned for the 2025 Tony Awards?
According to organizer the American Theatre Wing, this year’s show will feature performances from the casts of Buena Vista Social Club, Dead Outlaw, Death Becomes Her, Floyd Collins, Gypsy, Maybe Happy Ending, Operation Mincemeat, Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Sunset Blvd., Just In Time and Real Women Have Curves. Additionally, there will be a special appearance by 2019 Tony Honor Recipient Broadway Inspirational Voices and an anniversary performance from the original Broadway cast of Hamilton including Carleigh Bettiol, Andrew Chappelle, Ariana DeBose, Alysha Deslorieux, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Sydney James Harcourt, Neil Haskell, Sasha Hutchings, Christopher Jackson, Thayne Jasperson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Stephanie Klemons, Morgan Marcell, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Javier Muñoz, Leslie Odom, Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Jon Rua, Austin Smith, Phillipa Soo, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes and Voltaire Wade-Greene.
