EXCLUSIVE: Producers Sasha Yelaun (The Old Way) and Galen Christy (Conan the Barbarian) have partnered to establish Rebel Raider Media, a production and distribution company.
The company will prioritize what they describe as high-budget theatrical features while exploring “the future of storytelling through digital-first content and AI-assisted development.”
“Rebel Raider Media is about finding the right balance between cinematic storytelling and the new ways in which audiences discover and consume content,” Christy said in a statement. “We’re excited to support filmmakers who bring originality and voice, whether their work belongs on the big screen or in emerging formats.”
Yelaun added: “Our goal is to build a company that’s both strategically minded and creatively driven. We’re structured to guide projects from beginning to end, and to do so with an eye on what’s next, both technologically and culturally.”
Earlier this week, the company announced its debut title, Contra, starring Kal Penn, and BooBoo Stewart. The film is currently in production. It’s the directorial debut of Emmy-nominated producer Artisha Mann-Cooper (Eyes in the Trees). The thriller follows a streetwise chess prodigy pulled into a brutal underground circuit where every match is a deadly gamble. As the stakes escalate, he faces off against hustlers, criminals, and a ruthless kingpin who dominates both the board and the streets.
The company is also producing the upcoming sci-fi thriller, Bunker 13, which is set to shoot in Abu Dhabi.
